Ok so not a lot of beautification, but there is a fair amount of prep. Then again, I’m not really trying to get sponsors (is that even allowed?).
In order to prepare for the Games I’ve started building up a “healthy living” routine so that I don’t make a complete mess of myself once the semester gets in full swing.
Now, anyone that knows me knows I don’t spend a long time in front of the mirror. Just enough to do the essentials (wash face, quick make-up, blow dry hair, straighten hair, etc.). That really hasn’t changed. In fact, I may be spending even less time since I usually wear my hair curly in the summer. It’s useless to fight the humidity of Tennessee in July.
What has changed is the working out portion of my life. Before I went to Malibu, I’ll be honest, I didn’t do a great job at keeping up a regular workout routine. But when I went to Malibu and worked in the kitchen everyday straight for a month I built up some muscle.
Correction, I built up a lot of muscle.
I don’t want all of that work to go to waste, so I’ve done a pretty good job of keeping up with a cardio and weight lifting (well, with resistance bands) routine at home. While I know that it will be harder to maintain that when I’m busy with classes and all the extracurriculars I will add to my life, I’m ready for that challenge.
One of the main things I hear from anyone I talk to about going to law school is to make sure to keep up with a workout regimen, just for the stress-reducing perks alone. I’m lucky that my apartment building this fall has an amazing (small, but awesome) workout room and I don’t have any classes before 10:30 AM.
The Games may weaken me (or turn me into a sloth) and drive me to comfort food (or very little food) so I’m going to do the best I can to be fit and healthy before they even start.
